Investment
This is more than just a splurge or another bill to pay. Therapy is investing in you. Strengthening your mental health creates strong foundations for your physical health, your work, your relationships, your life adventures, your family and children. YOU should be one of the best and most rewarding investments you will make in your life.
Therapy Rates: $110-$225 per session
Typical routine sessions are around 47-55 minutes long depending on individual need.
Financial transparency is important. You need to have an understanding of costs, options and expectations for payment. Ask questions as you have them. Clarify as you need to.
Fees vary based on length and type of session and not on individual diagnosis.
The number of counseling sessions and how often you meet will depend on what you would like to work on. It is typical to meet weekly or every other week in the beginning. We will work together to determine this. The frequency and duration of your counseling will evolve to reflect your needs and progress. We will review your goals ongoing and you can ask about fees and services at any time.

Insurance
Navigating insurance for therapy can be tricky. It is your responsibly to know your insurance coverage. You should ALWAYS call to verify your benefits. Don’t just assume. Use the following to guide you in your call:
- Does my insurance have mental health benefits? What are the benefits for individual therapy?
-Do my benefits include Telehealth individual therapy?
- What is my deductible? When does my deductible start over?
-What is my copay?
-Do I need special approval to use my benefits? ( such as does my PCP have to make a referral) Do I need preauthorization before I start?
-Is Living Story Mental Health and Healing and Katrina Boyd (NPI 1245773647) covered by my plan?
-Is there a limit to the number of times I can see Katrina?
-Ask any other questions you have. This list is only for reference and is not exhaustive of what you might need to know.
Yes, it is a pain to have to make this type of phone call, but you are ultimately responsible for any fees not covered or denied by insurance so it is better to call than to be caught off guard.

What is a Superbill? Why would I use it?
A superbill may give you options to work with a provider YOU choose rather than one your insurance company chooses.. Superbills are specifically for Out-of-Network insurance plans.
A Superbill is a detailed document your therapist provides you which you can then turn into your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You are expected to pay out-of-network costs up front. It is up to your insurance company if they reimburse and for how much, but this may give you some potential support when you are considering Out of Network options for therapy.
